  1. Did you purge all the air out? Is there a grain of sand caught somewhere in the mechanism? You may have to break it down and clear away any obstuctions.
  2. You'll have to wait and observe hard. Some fishes are known to 'disappear' for weeks and then suddenly appear, alive and well!
  3. Most tank tops are open. Do you have any other means of saltspray and maybe a fan blowing?
  4. You can buy it from any of the LFS/sponsors featured in SRC.
  5. Interesting. Never had anything like this happen... there is faster than normal salt corrosion in the metal fixtures in the house but nothing so drastic as stuff shorting out. Try reducing air bubbling in the tank aside from the skimmer.
  6. Chey, I thought you referring to some other fella here....
  7. Yes, donate your PSP to a childen's home as penance.
  8. Perhaps you can call Geo-Aquatic, our latest advertiser....?
  9. Not advisable! Heard of acid rain?? We don't live high up in the mountains in some clean rural area! Just used processed tap water for your salt mix - cheap and clean. Just remember to use anti-chlorine!
  10. Nothing you can do. Cyanide does damage to internal organs that you can't treat.
  11. Acidjazz has unfortunately overstayed his welcome and is no longer part of this community due to his lack of good & reasonable manners.
  12. If you're afraid of some bad outcome, water changes will help reduce the levels. It will naturally be depleted over time by corals.
  13. If you go to the natural reef at night, the currents don't stop! In fact, during the full moon, the currents are even stronger! And the corals actually become more active feeding at night with larger polyp extensions! So... not true...
  14. Its expelling excessive zooxanthellae... normal activity once in a while, especially if it is getting excessive light. Or it could also be a sign of stress ie water too warm and it could be the start of bleaching.... perhaps you can share your tank parameters?
  15. Pacific Reef has Hawaii shipment this weekend too!! Check out their forum!
  16. Ahhh... I see you are a pro then.... how long have you been doing this?
  17. Errr... you mean this post? I found it here...
  18. Wasn't a newbie then but got cheated by an established LFS who didn't honour a warranty for a defective product. Regretted not making a big fuss over it and reporting it to small claims court. I only just threw away the pump this year after more than 6 years sitting in my room.
  19. Your photos are world class!
  20. Wow! You went??! One of my dream dive destinations! Did it cost you a bomb?? MORE INFO!! MORE INFO!!!
  21. hard to determine the lifespan of any DSB... depends on your bioload + your export mechanisms. A shallow sandbed has no NNR capabilities... you should have set it up right from the start, well, you can always add in more depth and wait for it to work in reducing nitrates. In the meantime, change water....
  22. Emmamuelle, I guess really you have to decide for yourself if he is trustworthy or not... if he can offer you what you want and you trust he can deliver and there is fair dealing involved.... by all means. Good luck and happy reefing! AT
