Well, this thing eats fish and corals... so you have no choice actually - just remove the whole rock, crush it and blast it out.

I think most of them eat tunicates, sponges, algae.... but if you see them disturbing corals... you should remove them! Very little is known about their diet as there are too many species of flatworms, nudibranchs/sea slugs. u should check out how beautiful some can get here: http://www.seaslugforum.net/showall.cfm?base=chelhiru

A cheap and effective way as I said before is to use pantyhose! Fill it up with some meat... clams, fishmeat etc... weigh it down and the bristleworms will get stuck to it as they crawl into the pantyhose... next day just dispose of the whole thing!

Its called Bristleworm Trap if I remember.... blue long box? Corallife brand I think.

Its a flatworm... not a nudibranch.

if its long and narrow bodied, some kind of nudibranch. If its very flat, broad and roundish... its a flatworm. See below example of the many hundred different kinds of marine flatworm.

Well, if you know its in a piece of liverock, take it out and use a screwdriver to crush it to death. When its mangled.... put the liverock into a pail of tank water, use a powerhead to blast the remains out of the hole and you can preserve the biological status of the liverock. If you use freshwater, your liverock will be severely affected ie. all micro organisms will perish.

Cjh got it right... it sounds like the bobbit worm. That is a SCARY monster... there pictures in the net of a bobbit worm from a reefer's tank that grew if i remember correctly about 3 - 6 ft in length. Get a bristleworm trap... or make one from a bottle and ladie's stockings.

there should be a drop esp after a water change... unless you are using a cheap/faulty/expired nitrate test kit or you use poor quality salt mix.
