Hi there... welcome to the Singapore Reef Club.
I have my opinions and you may want to consider them:
Canisters are more trouble than they are worth for long term maintenance and limited in their capacity for filtration. ie. forget to turn on the canister after maintenance/feeding overnight and all the established bacteria will have died off. Worse still... turn it back on.. and you will flush all the new ammonia into your tank. ie. your tank will suffer.
If you can find a way to use a properly constructed sump/refugium setup... it wil be much more effective and convenient as a filter system and equipment storage.
Stocking-wise, it's what you like vs your setup limitations eg. size of tank, filtration system, equipment etc.
