  1. Interesting stuff. You are giving up the hobby before you even started?
  2. Release them into the sea. Return them to LFS for free. Give away to Phang's mantis.
  3. You have OVERSTOCKED with INCOMPATIBLE fish species. bro! Triggers are better off in a FOWLR (fish only with live rock) tank. Butterfly fishes are mostly coral obligates (eat coral polyps) and they also eat up all your worms eg. tubeworms. They are also very sensitive to poor quality water. They may take some time to adapt to eating mysis shrimp. Damsels are monsters just like clownfishes. They get uglier and meaner with age. Highly territorial. They will not hesitate to attack your hands. You have to remove both of the 3 species you keep. Or you can keep the damsels with the trigger. I dun encourage beginners to keep butterfly fishes. You may have to upgrade your tank or your filtration system coz a small system can only support a few fishes without crashing badly if you cannot give a lot of time changing water weekly. AT
  4. I dun want this forum to become a free marketplace for vendors who dun care to support SRC/help me subsidise SRC. I just invested US$100 to get a CMS system installed. Need to time to figure out how it works. AT
  5. Hey... the snails are supposed to be mine! Not mantis food! Grrrrr!! Wah... you like dat one ah! I thot monday you were coming to see my new PS and you could have delivered mah!
  6. I am still waiting for my snails...hmmmm

  10. Defish/Clubfish, I can't help but notice that all your 6 posts made is to promote Resun Chillers and MHs for this 'Mr Koh' - all in the space of less than 24 hours. Why don't you ask Mr Koh to advertise his wares here in SRC properly and not use the forums improperly? AT
  11. click here to view this video on a German SPS tank! *warning - broadband users only* Phang - take a look at the kind of water circulation required for good SPS growth. Now you get the idea huh? Go get the Tunze streams...
  12. Get your equipment ready first... like skimmer and calc reactor. BTW, this zeolite method has to go with strong skimming to work.
  13. Phang, Can I advise you to study more abt such stuff before committing to buy? Wah lau eh! You already have much to learn abt SPS keeping.
  14. It's actually very easy.... even an electrical moron like me could wire it up in a jiffy... once pointed the right way! Thanks to Alvy and Robe for their guidance!
  15. Yeah, I was gonna share this link of nice acros with Phang.. The Americans were asking this German guy in RC abt how the German keep acros in such good colour... and this method of zeolite was 'explained'... it appears the Germans believe in starving the zoox in acros of certain nutrients/trace elements using zeolites so they will reply on light more heavily for growth and colour up more. But the actual scientific theory was not very well translated and even the German hobbyist couldn't properly explain it. He just followed their instructions and it is working for him. I can't remember if the instructions/explanations are on the site.
  16. How new is your setup? I'm curious coz your stocking seems to be heavy for a new tank, especially for one running on a canister and coral chips... what are your nitrates and phosphate levels like?
  17. Nah... I will probably put my PS on timer so after lights off, when I feed my phytoplankton... the corals will get a good feeding without me worrying that the skimmer will remove plankton before they do... I doubt if live plankton will get removed as quickly as dead foods/amino acid foods but it will help me save a few hours of electricity at least! Hee hee! Phang, you are getting an iwaki yourself rite?
  18. I guess the standards and knowledge of contemporary marine tank-keeping will improve at LFS. I suspect a lot of hobbyists are more knowledgeable than LFS. Or they are selling stuff that doesn't work and so get repeat customers. I guess that's the only way to make money. If I opened a fish shop, I'll probably go broke coz I won't carry a lot of stuff.. heh heh! Do you think I should open up a shop? Who will support me? AT
  19. Hi Unicornis... welcome to SRC! Nice sohal tang you got there! Could you describe your system to us?
  20. Alvy says any terminal to wire the live and neutral will do. And I did... it's working perfectly. I grounded the iwaki too. It's working fabulously on my new alvyfoamer... lots of power and foam. Just that the 250watts consumption is a little hard to swallow. Hee!
  21. Hi Robe, Need some advice. Opened up the cover of the Iwaki pump's electrical points (doh). No symbols to indicate which point does the live and neutral wires go to and where exactly should the ground wire be? In the same box or outside on the metal casing itself?
  22. Aiyoh... aren't you our unofficial rep already? Heheheh!
  23. G'day! A lot of good stuff are not available in Singapore either, stuff like Seaswirls, reeftecs, aerofoamers, DIY MH kits and aquacontrollers etc. Even if there such stuff, they come in one or two pieces, brought in to 'test' the market. Are you a hobbyists or a LFS? AT
  24. Hi Flowerhorn, So sorry... just that many of us marine reefers... ahh.... find it hard to understand why some people think that Loa Han fish is so beautiful. Beauty is the eye of the beholder, we understand! Sorry, pls don't feel offended! Do you keep flowerhorns as well as marine tanks?
  25. Great tank! Love your blue maxima! Could you tell us your tank setup? AT
