  1. The technology is still far off from producing the kind of intensity & usable PAR that our corals need. I have experimented with LEDs for moonlights a long time ago... just used my pocket Photon microlight and it is capable of creating caustic lines (snigger away, Alvy and Tanzy).... very cool effect. I own many LED torchlights.. I love LEDs! I nearly bought a LED torchlight with more than 66 LED bulbs in them for my diving, in the end I bought a HID light! AT
  2. Mine is as fine as baby's hair... easily removed but they float around and stick everywhere! AND GROW again!!!
  3. Hi folks, Need to search for some sea urchins, preferably the tuxedo kind. Need at least 5... know any LFS having them? Or if you are kind enough to loan for a month or two to help me trim my hair algae....
  4. I managed to catch it out last nite!!!! It fell for the food in a box trick... slam the trapdoor shut and got it out! It's sitting in a little plastic tank right now! Spiff... I don't care! It's YOURS!!!!
  5. Splash-resistant ventilation cover (made of eggcrate!) Not bad for a 15 minute cut and tape operation huh? Hee hee!
  6. Here's the pump enclosed inside this makeshift muffler box.
  7. Aiyoh! What talking you guys?? Hee hee... I gave my answer already... Spiff wins the Maroon Clown!!! It's a cardbox cover for my Iwaki pump... to muffle sound and to also provide splash protection.... hee hee! When you wanna collect your prize, Spiff?

  10. ??? I checked... everything seems to be running ok. Perhaps it's just a minor fluke... which browser versions are you guys using? AT
  11. ... a free Yellow banded Maroon Clown!!!
  12. Hey! Not too bad! Well done! Was concerned that the eggcrates could still be seen as I thought you wanted to create caves, so you're going for rock wall concept?
  13. Look for the fairy wrasse species... there are many of them, all very colourful and reef-safe. Do not get any other wrasse species as they are in the same league as damsels and clownfishes... aggressive and territorial. They also become a nuisance by pecking at clams sometimes and they eat cleaner shrimps when they grow big enough. AT
  14. Dino, It looks like a big rockscaping challenge. The vertical face is too steep, I suggest that you put more horizontal shelves that are wider at the bottom and narrower as it goes up the top so you can stack flat rocks to put corals on. Doing this will enable smaller corals to be placed right at the top without blocking light at the lower shelves. I hope you can find big flat rocks to hide eggcrates... The reason why I went for pvc pipes (see my reef project thread) is that I minimise the visibility of 'legs' or vertical parts being seen. It is already a challenge for me to hide these completely. But the dark grey colour is also easier to hide compared to the stark white of eggcrates. And the much smaller mass has a lot of strength compared to fragile eggcrates. And a smaller mass helps in water flow dynamics. You will need a lot of flat rocks as well as small rocks to cover that much surface area of eggcrates if you want to hide as much of it as possible to look natural. Hmmm... sorry if I seem to negative, but I am very particular abt the final visual appearances as well as function. But if I was a budget, I would done it the same way... well... maybe not!
  15. I am sending you both a bill for additional bandwidth and harddisk space taken up.
  16. Spade, you're not in the movie distribution business, are u?
  17. Looks like Shenton Way!
  18. Pet, I have that. I used that to seal leaks in my pvc pipes. Once hardened, it's like stone... extremely hard. And it's YELLOW in colour. I do not recommend using it as marine epoxy! I think it needs to cure outside water. 2 hours is also very long for LR to be outside the water.... you could get a lot of die-off. If you really want to attach LR together, I suggest that you drill tiny holes and insert black cableties to hold the LR together.
  19. Actually, I did explore the possibility of having a webcam placed outside / inside my reef tank...and connected via wireless to my PC... so at least when I am overseas... I can log in and check on the status of my tank! Never got down to doing it... you tech freaks... any ideas on how to do it?
  20. Robe... that has to be the weirdest thing that you have ever said before!
  21. You rear dogfish, Tanzy? I feed pellet foods occasionally as I think they contain a lot of phosphates.
