  1. Use cable ties or two-part epoxies like Selley's Knead it.
  2. One '!' would suffice. Also, you should go to page 1 of the sps forum. This has been covered before... about the basic requirements of SPS corals.
  3. Buy Chemip**e, no water changes necessary for 5 years!
  4. Titanium chiller or reef relief! Good performance at good price. Contact Dr Chill!
  5. It's your personal preference. Logically, you should do your water changes from the sump as you probably want to clean up the settled detritus from there as well. You can leave enough water in your main tank while draining what's in your sump.
  6. Crab, You may want to check out these links my beckett skimmer My Iwaki pump
  7. Huh? I think those threads are lost. If they are still around, can you show me the links? Thanks!
  8. As a beckett skimmer user, are you prepared to pay for a good external pressure-rated chemical pump to drive the beckett? If not, you can expect poor performance and efficiency from the best in sump pumps, Eheim, Oceanrunner etc. They just don't have the power!
  9. Classic: Undergravel Filters (UGFs) will make your water crystal clear and clean!
  10. You need a doctor fish (cleaner wrasse) to prevent ich from happening!
  11. I'll start! Coral chips in your sump tank will help buffer your PH and Calcium Levels!!
  12. You better hunt for live adult brine shrimp, keep them loaded with phyto before feeding them to the pipefish. You can hatch BBS in 24hrs... No probs! Ghost pipefish? Do you have a pix... curious to see what kind of colour morph are these? Newly setup tank? Hmm.. properly cycled I hope!
  13. Pls tell that to Joe_p, he uses half a bottle per dose!!! Zoiks!!
  14. There are many ways to increase PH... 1. Using Kalkwasser (benefit of dosing calcium too). 2. Using PH buffers. 3. Increasing better oxygen diffusion in your water thru water circulation. Please investigate more into the above before rushing into them.
  15. Crushed corals do not buffer PH at all! This is a myth perpetuated by LFS to sell off their coral chips. If that is so, you can count on all your liverock and corals to help buffer PH too!
  16. Perhaps you should indicate how old are your test kits?
  17. Artificial/imitation vinegar/acetic acid & water is the correct one to get. The rest are for cooking purposes!
  18. lol... i still remember Barracuda insisting that his rice vinegar usage gave no probs until I highlighted the other 'food stuff' inside it! Imagine fish bits, sugar, herbs, alcohol mixed with kalk!
  19. I believe this thread should be in the weekly report?
  20. 1.018 is a little low. Bring it up to at least 1.023. Calibrating with our local waters is not advisable. We are an island and we discharge a lot of freshwater into the sea from drains (rain, industrial and commercial output). It is highly possible that the water you got is diluted. Sembawang water is also highly polluted.. kekeke! The white stuff on the liverock is decaying stuff... probably an algae or sponge clump. You have to cycle your tank for at least a month before you can stock anything.
  21. Hahahha!!! These were teething pains when we first started. I guess the industry and SRC's pretty comfortable with each other now.
  22. Power consumption? Set up another thread, alvy!
  23. Oh i see, how fast does your orange monti cap grow?
