  1. Undergravel (UGF) but no sandbed... hmmm.... Seriously... a UGF without a sandbed is not a UGF and anyway... a UGF is unsuitable for marine.
  2. Sea spiders do not throw webbings like their land cousins do. It could be something else. leave the worms unless they are longer than 10cm... The slugs will die off very soon as they have very short livespans... if in doubt, remove them. Slugs as in nudibranchs?
  3. Wah Kaoz! Someone enlighten this 'eat potato'.
  4. Is that a staghorn sps I see in your tank?
  5. Ok... going to do a bulk order soon on calcium reactor media... I have great difficulty keeping my calcium levels high now too... Well... too bad SL's price is always so high... standby for more news!
  6. One more pair up for grabs!!! Quick... time is short... !!!
  7. Sure dude, no prob! I think you can leave the UGF plate in the sandbed if you don't want to redo your tank. Just remove the tubes. You may have a month's worth of detritus and organic stuff decomposing inside your sandbed though!
  8. I use to have a Sander Ozoniser used with my PS... but I took it apart to clean it and let's say... I couldn't put humpty dumpty back together again! When using it, my water was crystal clear and my skimmate was really happening... as in very little but thick and smelly. You just reminded me to send it in for repair!
  9. If you follow the Berlin method (no substrate/plenty of LR)... then the amount of LR you have to add to become an effective biological filter will be ALOT! but you will still need a good skimmer and minimum bioload. Using the DSB method, you can reduce the amount of LR but sacrifice 4 to 6 inchs of depth for very fine sand substrate. Properly setup, the Berlin or DSB method will help to control nitrates over time. As for your question whether your LR is alive... well... if it doesn't smell, has lots of coralline algae growth on them or other microlife... then it's considered as LR. Even dead rock will become LR over time... You can add in LR all at once but you have to ensure that your tank will not crash due to lack of oxygen due to poor/no water circulation as a massive dieoff could overwhelm your tank. That is why people recommend getting cured LR. Uncured LR with lots of dead/dying organisms on it will help kickstart the cycling but too much of it could cause a crash. It is good practice to scrub off/tear off any sponges or algae matter on uncured LR as they are certain to die off during the cycling period.
  10. Hi there, I think you have several things to take note of: 1. your tank is small. 2. your biological filter system is, ahem, ineffective/wrong. If you can, reset up... your UGF is gonna cause a lot of problems very soon. Unsuitable for marine. Your livestock is gonna suffer. 3. Angels and butterfly fishes are unsuitable for new tanks.. they are highly sensitive fishes. 4. No2 should be zero, not low. You have to let us know your exact water parameters with proper measurements by test kits. Same goes for salinity and PH etc.
  11. Please contact maxima.... he's the only reefer to breed them successfully.
  12. Good quality brineshrimp eggs should hatch within 24 hours and almost 100% hatch rate.
  13. But.... good brands and cheaper than the Aragonite price that you mentioned!
  14. Whoops... sorry guys... no luck... got other brands.... but no A.R.M.
  15. Berrykin, Maybe you can believe what they teach and then you can report back on your long term success of your reef tank after 6 months? Maybe you can show us a thing or two...
  16. Hi expat701, pls keep photo width to 700 pixels wide! Resized correctly for you!
  17. Actually from my own personal experience, Thomas of OP has always been rather fair-priced, friendly, sincere and a nice dude. Don't know why you felt so strongly about his SPS pricing to you... but end of the day, you bought it right? You shouldn't grumble now. You wanna retract your statement or stand by it?
  18. I was using Schuran media even before the brand came to Singapore... hehe.. I was the one to intro to Patrick... with my Korallin Kalkreactor. I made my wife handcarry from HK... she nearly killed me... haha... Errhmm... okie... I'll ask my distributor friends in HK.... gimme a few days....
  19. Any idea on how much SL's gonna charge?
  20. You can get nassarius snails from Maxima as he has success breeding them. Good scavengers on the sandbed... will help you clean up excess food or dead carcasses. Here's my crew everytime food hits the water, they rise up from the sandbed like zombies!
