Hi everyone, To ease my time and frustration in trying to keep the kopi tiam politically correct and sensitive to some underaged and overly sensitive members and keeping it free of the increasing number of crude jokes, graphic images that are rather 'unsettling' or sexist, political & social debates and discussions about the opposite gender and other adult topics like smoking, drinking, racing and other 'vices'.... and after many months of thought and an overwhelming support via the poll... I have given in and created an 'Above 18/matured members access only' forum. In future, pls keep the general Kopi Tiam section 'clean' and you know where the 'rubbish' should be kept in! Access is granted on a case-by-case basis and all members who I know are above 18 AND matured will be given a password (that will change from time to time) to ensure that no immature member will be allowed in. As a condition for usage of this forum, please keep the password to yourself, anyone that is found giving the password to an underaged/unverified member will have NO FURTHER ACCESS to this forum. As I also consider this particular forum a 'nonsense' forum, I will not be spending time to moderate it, so if you want to 'talk like adults' in there... keep in there!!!... any form of misbehaviour eg. flaming etc that goes out into the general forums will be severely dealt with as always. Reefing will be the main subject and Kopi Tiam is just a small part of this site to give some members a chance to talk about other things in common. Those who are minors, sensitive to boorish behaviour, feminist, politically sensitive etc need not worry about such topics being discussed again in the Kopi Tiam. NOTE: Any form of malicious postings regarding religion will not be tolerated. At least respect that subject enough not to comment on them. Jokes regarding racial differences is still ok as we are matured enough to recognise a joke. PS - those who have not had their accounts tweaked by me will not be able to see the link anyway. You should not be registering any readings of NO2! This shows your tank filtration system isn't fully cycled yet! Get your salinity up to 1.023 at least. At higher temps, ammonia intoxicity is increased, FYI.

20 years of trial and error will result in a 20 year trail of errors. Stagnation while the world whizzes by in leaps and bounds.... if technology and research has improved so much in the past 3 years, how much more 10 years ago or for that matter.. 20 years ago? Why do you think there is such a far gap between the fish shop and hobbyists in terms of the latest reefkeeping knowledge? They have failed to utilize the tools of today's world to learn and improve. And you know how the older generation is, you can't teach them a thing because limpeh was packing saltwater fish when you still drinking milk!

? why start wrongly? ?? Consider the money lost. Better than lose money in the long term replenishing livestock and buying stuff to reduce nitrates later.

I think what everyone is concerned with is not just to give out information freely on how to acquire marine livestock but to check if the reefer is unaware of the housing and feeding requirements. It's like someone asking where to buy a nice expensive chincilla and then not knowing that a chincilla is much harder to take care of compared to a common hamster. Or where to buy cigarettes and you know that person is not legally able to.
