  1. Cookie... if I may... you really have to add in more LR... the flat pieces that you have are only good for being the flat panes that help form overhangs or caves. But you definitely need more rounded rocks to be placed on the flat pieces to achieve height and slopes and not just to place your corals on them.. as it will look too much like bedrock homes in the Flintstones or stonehedge. My 2 cents lah... if you need help for rockscaping... I'll pop over!
  2. That's called 'bowing'! Do you have a centre brace? Some freshwater tanks are made of thin glass and cheap silicon. If your tank has one and its bowing... something is very wrong.. perhaps the silicon has already torn off and the brace is no longer providing any support in holding the middle part of the front and back walls! You have to be extra careful not to add any more pressure onto the glass walls or you'll have a disaster. If you want peace of mind... get a tank built for marine, usually with thicker glass and braced to hold in the weight and pressure of the thick sandbed and heavy rocks that pose a risk to FW thin-walled glass tanks.
  3. but... but... but.... it's the truth!
  4. Sounds like a good idea to me!
  5. I think Rumor is strongly disagreeing with what Danano just said!
  6. Wahahaha... the next time I catch you drinking... you have to surrender your chiller to me! Surprised you didn't fertilize the palm tree (or did you when our backs were turned?)
  7. No diff if rock is wet or dry. Just apply enough to soak thru porous rock surface or they won't adhere to each other. Applies to tiny pcs of rocks only. Nope! Surprisingly cyanoacrylate glue is non-toxic in saltwater. Use superglue gel for easy working due to the thicker viscosity and slower hardening time allowing time for corrections. Two-part epoxy used for underwater pipe repair is also safe. Just don't get epoxy for metal repair as it contains metals in them. Yes, I have superglued velcro strips onto pvc racks to secure rocks and small corals for easy removal. You can also use cable ties to secure LR together. Overtime, they will be covered with coralline algae. You can use the search function, keywords 'superglue gel', 'secure LR', 'epoxy'.... you'll find a lot of good info that has been given in the past before... LYFDTW! (let your fingers do the walking)
  8. Ah... featherstars! Beautiful crinoids! But impossible to keep alive long term in aquariums. Even advanced reefers will not try as they require very frequent feedings of live plytoplankton and they are very sensitive to poor water parameters and poor water quality. They are best left in the ocean. Please don't buy them in future. AT
  9. Hello! Just like to do an informal poll on who's using a Titanium or Reef Relief chiller! I'll start first: AT: 1.25hp Titanium Chiller
  10. I like big flat rocks. I use them extensively in my reef tank!
  11. LOL... youur aer wright ###### usually, bwilly! U alwayz tik the right tik!
  12. If you have a small tank < 1 ft deep... it will probably be sufficient for most mushrooms, depending on species. Knowing some newbies, they will end up buying unsuitable species and then be forced to upgrade to more/stronger lightings... and unless they have immediate cash, the livestock will suffer as they wait for their caretakers to upgrade. Ask yourself what you intend to keep (that is, you first have to know what different livestock needs in terms of housing/feeding) and THEN setup your tank right the first time round so you save lots of $$$.
  13. Gatecrasher is from KL. I don't think it's very practical to go all the way there to rescue it! The algae on the sand... are you mistaking it as something else? Sounds like diatoms or cyanobacteria... no fish will eat that!
  14. profiteering toots! That's a real cool name! Hahaahaha!!
  15. You can't read it anymore... I have deleted all of his postings already.
  16. Roidan... speaks truely! Be extremely suspicious of newcomers coming and offering equipment for sale. Singapore is small and SRC is an extremely small club. I guess a lot of reefers have spent enough time here to know who's who already. Williammuk and other SRC members will not risk their names and reputation if they are pushed into the same category as some hustlers who register themselves in just to make a few sales of new or used equipment and are not genuine & particpating hobbyists!
  17. I have enough turf algae growth on my coralline-encrusted rocks to sustain a PBT and lawnmower blenny that without any feeding of foods, just by grazing, they have rounded stomachs daily. If you can't provide sufficient natural algae for their grazing, your blenny will surely die... best to pass it to Juan Rahmat asap! Juan... turn off FULL CAPS pls... using it is considered as shouting online.
  18. Dogfish, You should be aware of my stand about commercial postings in this forum. No agents, salesmen, distributors of any kind are allowed to push their products/services here. Only SRC sponsors and authorized SRC members doing DIY projects for fellow hobbyists are allowed to sell stuff direct to SRC members using this forum. Thank you for your co-operation.
  19. My fridge compressor is louder than my Titanium chiller. I have not compared my aircon compressor noise levels with my fridge and chiller though...
  20. I have a mimic tang... I think they look best when they reach adulthood. Very different from the juveniles! Good-tempered, easy-going characteristics too.
  21. Hi Cage.... are you prepared to spend substantial money in this hobby? It's seriously not cheap, even if you can scrimp here and there... you do get what you pay for.
