Icons are all back? Original blue scheme? You mean the orangey theme?

Do you guys still see the Star Trek skin?

It does not matter if you use bioballs or biorings or coral chips or even LR in your wet/dry filteration system. These are all excellent for aerobic bacteria to grow on (those that process ammonia to nitrites and nitrites to nitrates) as they have excellent oxygen diffusion all around.... and thus the bacteria can process ammonia & nitrites very quickly to nitrates. Hence the term 'nitrate factories'. For anaerobic bacteria (those that process nitrate to harmless nitrogen gas)... anoxic/anaerobic (very very low amounts of oxygen) conditions must be created. These can only be naturally created with a plenum or Deep Sandbed (DSB). Or the usage of many large LR where the centre of the rock is dense and large enough to house ample populations of anaerobic bacteria.

That was a glitch in the timeline.... blame it on Q!

If you use a thick foam board, potentially, the whole piece can fly out! Remember going to the pool and trying to force down a styrofoam board by standing on it? Shift your weight a little and the board can shoot out like a Polaris missle!
-
hmmm... yeah.... but if you want to do this... you have to place the foam in... then the sand, then the liverock.. BEFORE adding water. Once water is in... it'll be a difficult thing to force a foam board down inside water and make it behave! Actually, if you have a DSB, your LR is quite cushioned already.
-
Styrofoam is inert in saltwater. However, technically, it's almost an impossible to use styrofoam as a base for your liverock because it's extremely buoyant! Do you have a very thin glass bottom for your tank? If you have thick glass, you can jump up and down on it and it won't even break.

You are not supposed to rinse... but there's no way I am not going to rinse!

Tanzy, are you talking about the particles that are large enough to drop to the bottom of the sump or are you talking bout the tiny particles that cause the water to turn completely rust coloured?

Voting for preferred SRC T-shirt
Achilles Tang replied to Achilles Tang's topic in SRC Contest and prizes section
Well... they are supposed to follow the same logo typeface and colour scheme. It's a little strange to incorporate the two, maybe if there is enough demand, I'll create a hybrid of the two.. But for now... time is short... we need to raise funds for Aquarama 03 through the sale of T-shirts... so please choose one first! -
It grows BIG very FAST!

Hi SRC dudes and dudettes! As time is running short and I need to decide on a T-shirt design to mass produce to get ready for Aquarama 03... please select ONE design that you are MOST CERTAIN to like enough to wear. Based on a poll, I'll decide on the most demanded design choice. Design #1 Details logo design graphic design Design #2 Details logo design graphic design This poll is ONLY for T-shirts design and not about design variants (logo in front, or back or picture only etc... there is a seperate poll for that). I will do seperate polls for choice of design choices & colours and polo-T designs colours, so please respond to those polls seperately! Thank you for your feedback! AT

Budget and Fund Raising
Achilles Tang replied to Achilles Tang's topic in SRC Contest and prizes section
Hi everyone, I have decided that the fastest way to raise funds is through the sale of Official SRC T-shirts! All T-shirts will be priced around the region of $20. I will creating an order thread where the finalized T-shirt design will be put up for ordering. The T-shirt ordering should be made within these few days as time is running short. Please support! -
Arrgh!!!!

Oops. I screwed up! Bear with me!

Hmmmm.... that's a very good point... Okie... I try a very subtle colour scheme! Light blue/silver?
-
Arrgh! I just a few hours trying to figure out what & where the column, row, bar colours are ... and now you don't like them?! I wanted a colour change because this forum was skinned with the default colours... although it's blue... it does look like any other Invision Board around!

Roll Call: Everyone, pls report here!
Achilles Tang replied to Achilles Tang's topic in SRC Contest and prizes section
I'll appreciate if everyone can please report in just this info: Nick: Clownfish Event Timing / Your Attendance - Full Day or Timing. Public: 1 November (Saturday) (10.00am-1.00pm) / 2 November (Sunday) (10.00am-7.00pm) / FULL Tear-down: 2 November (Sun) 7.00pm-10.00pm / FULL -------------------------------------------------------- I just need to know every SRC's attendance at Aquarama, not whether you are busy due to whatever reason. Sorry... but time's running short.. no time... we need to get a committee/small team going.... -
I did ask if Rowa anf Contra were exactly the same and I was informed yes. Upon inspection of the contents... Rowa is completely black... Contra is mixed black with brown... if they are really the same... why is this so?

Clownfishes will eat anything. You don't feed corals freeze dried food. Only fresh/frozen meaty food like prawns, shrimp, fish meat etc, all in appropriate sizes of course. Don't jump the gun, spiderone... there was no mention of lionfish. No harm about the comment about 'starving of fish for a few days' to get them eating something else... healthy fish are hardy and won't die if they are not fed for more than a day and some aquarists don't feed fishes for a few days with no worries. However, take note that you have to know what species you are having... some fishes need to be fed a few times a day (like anthias), tangs need to graze all day so sufficient algae must be provided, slow moving predators like lionfish can be fed once every two/three days. It really depends what you have.
