  1. Pre-drilled. Custom made tank, remember? Well, if its a drop in PVC pipe using siphon effect, a gravity feed is quite difficult. Advisable to be pump-driven.
  2. Interesting though.... never met a lady nerd before... LOL!! Most of the girls I meet are more concerned about the prices of Prada and LV. Joking!
  3. I read somewhere that it may be good to pinch the stalk before breaking it so that less fluids will leak out.
  4. Depends on how far your chiller is and the height it has to fight against.
  5. Sis, you like the Foundation & Empire series? I need to re-read them!
  6. As I suggested in RC, you should consider a dedicated closed loop for your chiller at your main tank. Expensive lesson learnt: Never forget to switch on your sump pump ie. water overheats in your main tank while you have a chilled sump. Microbubbles are a pain in my side too. I had to break down a partition baffle to increase my intake space so microbubbles have more time and space to dessipate. But I still get them from time to time when the water level drops in my sump. Now with my TUBBY to ensure a stable water level... I rarely get them!
  7. You're a girl???? And you love robotic stories??? Which planet are you from?? You should be liking Beverly Hill 90210! Or Rose in the Attic! Or... or... other girlie stories!!!
  8. You... are an opportunist trying to take advantage of our SICKNESS... you sick SICK man!!! Joking!
  9. Moved out to the new to the marine hobby forum. Your phosphate levels are very high. It's between 0.5 and 1. Use Rowaphos and your levels should be 0!
  10. I imported it. Can't remember from which retailer.
  11. OH yeah! MX-70! Alvy's right... it's a monster...
  12. Why would you wanna do that?? YOu mentioned that your cabinet height is 36"... and from your layout, think you gonna have some trouble if you need to meddle with them.... I recommend that you place them out of the sump... so that chores like topping up kalk..., adjustment of CO2 feed ... cleaning of skimmer cup can be done easily..... Yeah... it does seem a little cramped to put so many insump equipment in there. You have to cater space to manuever moving things in and out of the sump, especially tall equipment. Split the output of the pump into 2 (one for chiller and the other to return...) for the sump recommend you do a tee from the mains with a ball valve controlling the amount into the refugium.... Let your returns be made into good use..... You have to make sure that the amount of water returning into the sump is fast enough to ensure that water teeing-off into the chiller will not drastically slow down due to the head pressure from the chiller cooling coils and can actually return water back to the top of the tank as suggested by you. Too fast is not a prob as you have a ball valve. What happens if the back pressure is too great for the gravity fed piping to the chiller? Notice your reservoir is a little small.... 2 choices... either have a large top up water container... or ensure a larger reservoir..... less maintenance... He can install a solenoid to control your tap to fill up this reservoir. Feed the chiller returns into main tank direct..... My point above to consider.
  13. I have a book called Clownfishes by (joyce) Wilkerson. Publisher: Microcosm. ISBN 1-890087-04-1. Highly recommended for those who love clownfishes.
  14. hammerhd... it's a common fact that that those who don't have a fat stomach will not be able to see their waists because of the the scuba mask blocks the field of vision to a large degree. He's not asking me to trim my waist.. anymore trim and you'll see a diving skeleton!
  15. SLUT?? Was it an intentional misspelling to get attention? Nah... the only nudibranchs that are commonly sold are the lettuce nudibranchs and those are confirmed algae eaters, I doubt if this one is an algae eater... more likely a coral or sponge eater.
  16. Its a foam maker... used in skimmers by H&S Euroreef and Schuran. Not sure if its patented. but now being copied by the Taiwanese/Chinese like Macro.
  17. Its as simple as stirring it into a glass of tapwater and pouring it slowly into your sump.
  18. Thanks, Tanzy... I'll try to hunt them down here first.. don't want to trouble you too much!
  19. If you are referring to the Seachem Reef Builder, it is an carbonate alkalinity supplement. If you keep corals, you have to monitor your alk levels as this is important for calcification. SPS corals are extremely capable of depleting alkalinity in a reef tank... once it falls too low, lost of growth and colours may occur. For LPS, soft corals, its not much of a problem. Coralline algae also appreciates the same water parameters that SPS corals thrive in, so the statement that your 'LR will turn white' is not entirely untrue if alkalinity is allowed to be fall too low and the coralline algae bleaches. 20. Hi folks!! I am thinking of arranging a collection from 11am to 12noon. I have to be at Bt Batok by 1am. So how? Toa Payoh MRT, 11am to 12noon, Pls put down your name here!
  21. The rule of thumb is also dependant on how big your hand is. Seriously, your stocking level is directly in proportion to your filtration system, or rather, its effectiveness. Perhaps your tank needs more time to be matured? Perhaps there is some improvement to be made? An upgrade somewhere perhaps? It is good to test your water parameters everytime you add a new fish to see if your filtration system can cope with the increased ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. If it's pushed over the edge, usually, most of the fishes will die. In your case, if its one fish only (the new fish)... it could be other things like: 1. You didn't acclimatize your fish properly to your tank water. 2. It was bullied, attacked or eaten by your other fishes. 3. You got yourself a poor specimen? 4. Disease/stress from parasites?
