  1. 4mm is too thin. It's a huge risk to make it into a marine tank.
  2. I think being a diver helps too. You have to memorise the names of the livestock, I mean, the creatures you see down below and write them in your logbook/photo ID them when you name your files.
  3. Good luck to your project. Going to miss your old reef though. Thought you wanted to save space... looks like you'll be taking up as much space now!
  4. Flying Gunard. Was hoping to shoot one of these in my last dive trip to Sipadan/Mabul.
  5. Planning for this coming Friday lunch hour (12 to 1pm) and this coming Sat (12 to 1pm). Friday - Centrepoint MacDonalds (outdoor section). Sat - Toa Payoh MRT. Pls put your names down and if you are urgently-not-showing-up... PLZ CALL ME!!!
  6. Please don't keep nudibranchs... they are not easy to keep as they have very uncertain diets but mostly they are coral polyp eaters and sponge eaters. Only a few eat algae. They also have very short lives and may post a toxic risk. Leave them in the sea.
  7. Just epoxy coat your metal, after the anti-rust primer, after several layers of paint. You'll have a nice water-proof metal surface.. provided you don't scratch through the layers. If it was true that metal stands will collapse with a bit of rust... take a look at construction sites where the metal framework is in place... do you think they treat it that well completely before they put concrete around it? Do you see the number of rusting ships still floating out at sea? Metal will only become structurally weak if a substantial amount of metal has been CORRODED THROUGH (ie. HOLES) in the metal at critical joints before they become unstable. Poor quality wood, on the other hand, may splinter if the wood becomes wet and dried up again, causing expansion of the 'pores' and with enough sidewards pressure (try rocking a wooden stand), may disintegrate at the joints. Never never use fibreboard as a stand. Only use Chengai wood, its oily in nature and therefore water-resistent to a high degree and very dense. My 2 cents.
  8. Yup.... just close loop a bucket of vinegar... run for half a day, a day if you can afford it.... you'll clean up the calcium deposits in your pump as well (if you have any).
  9. If I did, I would look like The Incredible Melting Man! How many of you remember that movie?! I used to run vinegar down my chiller pipes, if you can get stronger acid... even better! Even with vinegar, you will be surprised at the stuff that comes out!
  10. Its a iron-based phosphate absorbent. Highest effectiveness in the market thus far. Expensive though. Not dangerous to livestock.
  11. You need to apply an import permit/CITES declaration for all of them with AVA. But you won't have much luck anyway as all the US retailers will never export out of the USA/Canada. Good luck!
  12. I did try to dress grubby... unshaven and all. But I can't pass off as rich...
  13. Guess what??!!! Today I was there and this young fella... with hole in the T-shirt... unshaven, bought 3 of them at one go!!!!!!! WOW!! I have never seen Gilbert show so much teeth before!!
  14. You still a nerd... a reef nerd... we all are!! I am an ARD (Advanced Reef Nerd). I gave up branded clothes for Reef-pictured T-shirts! Coralife T-shirts are my black-tie garments now.
  15. I don't recommend keeping Dendros. They are much too difficult to sustain, even for advanced hobbyists. These corals are too demanding.
  16. Gonna be leaving soon. So only 6 people can meet me today? AT
