  1. In future, treat all LR as living organisms... because they carry lots of life on them. They should not be left out of saltwater too long and be deprived of good water circulation because the living creatures that colonise liverock need oxygen too. You have effectively 'killed' your liverock.... or to precise... you killed the bacteria and living organisms on the rock. You can either throw it away... what a waste.... or you can cure it seperately and then once cured, to put it back in your main tank to be recolonised.
  2. My firewall blocks my PM box from popping up and even gifs from animating! It does this when I activate the anti-pop up ads/ad blocking feature.
  3. Sounds like a green brittlestar... but they are considered fish eaters more than anything else.
  4. You can't expect gravity to delivery water to your chiller and then back to your tank again! Of course you need a pump! My chiller is across my room too... a pump is definitely needed to move water.
  5. More than a year ago I did this review. Time to update: It's a good product no doubt. My SPS corals are growing like crazy and I can attribute it partly to feeding it GPs. You can add in your own observations here..
  6. Hate to say this but I'll say it: Do research before buying ANY livestock. Don't waste money and needless loss of lives thru educated purchasing. There are only two reefsafe starfishes: fromia and linkia species. Any others... pls avoid unless you have a FOWLR tank... but even then... they may end up eating your fishes or be eaten themselves. 7. Wait till you get hold of a beckett skimmer or a H&S Euroreef!
  8. Suggest you do yourself and your corals a favour by buying a good marine hobby book like Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman. It will be a good investment for you. Knowledge is key to improved reefkeeping. Don't rush into the hobby until you understand the basics.
  9. Nothing wrong with cycling the rock outside the home. It's recommended anyway... just make sure you don't encourage excessive algae growth on it.
  10. Thanks Pikey for the info. Nope... I don't think they'll impact us much... we don't see much of this brand here. So sad they'll going out of biz... I have heard of their brand name since I started out in this hobby!
  11. No aquarium light including 1000w MH can simulate actual sunlight intensity. It will be a waste of electricity to move light further away to simulate dawn and dusk.... IMO.
  12. You DO NOT ask for product opinions in THIS forum. Do it in the marine equipment forum and NOT product reviews!
  13. Gee... I wonder who took it!
  14. Welcome to SRC... Deepblue and Deep_blue!
  15. A green humilis retains its colour far easier than the other colour morphs. Danano's advice is good.
  16. An anemone will host a clownfish. What's wrong? A clownfish does not host an anemone.
  17. Add in small fishes and they will make short work of this natural zooplankton.
  18. Joe.... feeding DT's is more for the micro life and filterfeeders who will benefit. Evidence doesn't show that acros process phytoplankton. Their polyps are more for zooplankton capture... that is why rotifers (which feed on phyto) are the best live food for acros.... followed closely by GPs. Lights isn't everything in the equation when it comes to SPS. I had months of no growth and colour loss with my acros (could be acclimatization). I can attribute the recent tremendous growth and colouration to more stable cal and alk levels once I got my big CR in, together with the higher water quality achieved with my big beckett skimmer. (Touch wood, even with a heavy bioload, heavy feedings of cyclopeze a few times a day and GPs, I have not had any cyano outbreak for many months already. Perhaps my DSB has also matured already!). I strongly believe feeding GPs supplements my SPS from just relying on light alone for their energy requirements. Of course, if I could... I would feed live rotifers! But I really need a LOT of it!
  19. Lovely landscaping! I love how your montipora cups look!
  20. Cyclopeze is too big for most acro polyps. Even if they do capture one, it will most probably be rejected.
  21. IME... very yellow. If you want... you can come to my place to take a look at the combination of 6500k + blue MH and see for yourself how 6500k alone looks like (yucks). You need very strong blue lights to get a white look.
  22. You have to order from brineshrimpdirect as they are the manufacturer. They are based in the US. I ordered mine from them long ago! I don't think I will ever finish my supply! Because every coral is different and the polyp size will vary greatly... it is best to get them in a range of micron sizes... so no one will be left out. You have to feed sparingly. Inmature tanks or those with poor filtration systems may experience cyano explosion as the GPs are high protein stuff!
  23. 5 microns? Have they made GPs that small already? When I ordered mine... the smallest was still 20 microns... its already a very fine powder... 5 microns.. is almost... atomic!
