  1. Hmmm.... 1. Test kit could be faulty. 2. Your water has ionic imbalance or a parameter has dropped. 3. You overdosed. Solution: 1. Get Salifert test kits, high recommended! 2. You have to let us know your PH and Alk lewels, maybe magnesium as well. 3. Stop dosing until you know EXACTLY what's your current alk, cal & PH levels and you know EXACTLY what's your calcium uptake on a daily basis and then dose accordingly, not a anyhow hatam basis. My 2 cents, AT
  2. You must be mad! Angels are NOT reefsafe and statistics have proven it. I value my clams, my 'pratas', LPS and SPS corals... no way I'm gonna take the risk!
  3. Isopod. Fish parasite. KILL KILL KILL!
  4. Redang is nice. A little far but nice.
  5. Ian, you wanna go diving or snorkelling?
  6. Alright guys, its just a minor issue here, most of it is just bad timing with some misunderstanding. We recognise some subforums here (like the Kopitiam and LFS reports/LFS info centre and Club Outings) are suited for casual chatting and may not warrant heavy-handed moderation. (These threads will be fated for the trashbin anyway when the time comes because they have become irrelevant due to them being time-limited/sensitive.) There will be a lot of postings in general topics that warrant deletion as they are just idle chit chat or irrelevant postings at this particular time. We intend to make an archive/knowledge base of all past threads where there's important, interesting and relevant info and REAL discussions on reefkeeping (that everyone can refer to for research)... we thus have to cut away all the off-topic posts like eg. "Wow, your powder blue tang looks really fat" in a thread discussing about water circulation. You get the idea about how idle chit chat building up now will mean a lot of internet time later deleting them... and who has to do it... the admin and mods!! I see this episode as part of daily housekeeping. Please do be considerate and minimise idle chit chat as much as you can, although in this case, it may have been hasty for Rumor to close so it abruptly but he's just doing his job. No need to feel offended. We'll take note of your feedback and discuss amongst ourselves the level of vigilance we need to apply vs the 'casualness' of the subforums/topics. In this case, please excuse us. But in the meantime, we HAVE to do our job, so please co-operate and excuse such minor inconveniences and adhere to the 'Golden Rules' of behaviour and conduct while using this forum. The mods do have a tough time keeping this very busy forum spick and span and in fact we have yet to thoroughly clean house due to our busy schedules. Please cut us some slack if we don't have time to beat around the bush in explaining our actions. We just want to get the job done. The mods are not paid for their responsibilities.... It's all done for the love of the hobby and in service of all reefers in Singapore. Thanks for your kind understanding, guys! AT
  7. Muhahahahhaha.... more and more SRC members are drawn to the Wet Side! Sooon more victims, I mean, admirers of the sea, will be influenced and soon I can sacrifice all 2400 of us into the sea as penance for our sins in reefkeeping... muhahahaha... *its the sick part of me speaking*
  8. Nice! You'll improve as you go along! My first dive photos were horrible! You're much better than I was!
  9. If you intend to keep lionfishes, they should be kept in a species only tank. Seriously. These are predatory fish and anything smaller than them are considered food.
  10. Hi your pix is too big, can you resize it to 700 pixel width?
  11. Thinking of making a new sump with mini species only tanks compartments!! One for gobies with pistols, one for seahorses, one for observation purposes! LOL!
  12. "Have not buy it yet but I will seriously consider buying! " Just added this in. Coz I fit in there!
  13. Sure... how much did you get it for? Looking for it too!!
  14. Just my anedotal observations: My lighting cycle is consistent... but when my GAC or Phosphate removal media becomes saturated, or when calcium or alk drops, my SPS corals will change colour. It's the water, folks. Water husbandry first. Not lights.
  15. Yes, generally, a lack of sufficient lighting intensity would mean that corals would depend more on nutrient absorption to sustain itself and produce more zooxanthellae to aid in capturing as much light as it can. But most of us know that keeping SPS corals in high nutrient-laden water is asking for trouble. It is pointless to have excellent lighting but your water sucks. Keeping a tank of pristine water quality is a struggle for most people and having a very good skimmer to export out nutrients before they have a chance to break down is still my most given advice to people.
