  1. Yikes!! I'm quitting the hobby if my pods grow up to that size!! It looks like it could eat my dog for breakfast!!!!!
  2. The Radium is also a blue bulb but an energy saver version.... so its not really a true 400w bulb. (i am talking abt the 400w version here). As Tanzy says... it depends on the ballasts... it may be overdriven a lot with e-ballasts, esp. good ones like the Blueline e-ballasts. When overdriven, they emit a much whiter light but their lifespan also falls greatly. I think a lot of people are moving away from Radiums now.
  3. Hey folks... what tragedy?? Did someone die??
  4. oops. I mistook that cosmetic shop for the handphone shop right at the junction at Shibuya.
  5. Hey!! That handphone/camera shop is still there!!
  6. Yo Roidan, Good to know your AT's fine. Mine is eating well with nori and brine shrimp. He got bullied by my small Powder Blue Tang but he's now turning the tables by chasing it back. So far, its been a week... he still has ich at night but my cleaner wrasse's taking good care of it. The two white scratches have already disappeared and he's a nice jet black now. I can't get over how big his orange spot is! I'm confident my AT is going to be a keeper...! *touch wood*
  7. Your warn indicator is at 0%. Nothing to worry about. You can mostly ignore the k ratings of the blue bulbs. The Ushio Blue is just that... a Blue MH. They can stick a k rating to it as 20,000k if they want as most peaks are in the blue spectrum anyway... the most important thing is to make sure the right peaks at 420 - 450nm is there and that the PAR from these Blue MH bulbs are high enough to support photosynthesis. Being monochromatic is a feature of the blue bulbs. You can't expect full spectrum unless you go <10k bulbs. The problem with most of these Blue MH bulbs is finding out their spectral charts. My 2 cents, AT

  11. Looks like some kind of wrasse. Not very clear. Looks like a freshwater gourami! And BTW, next time, pls name your thread a little better like: Can someone help me ID this fish please. 'Fish name'.... can be anything. Thank you for your co-operation. AT and the Mods.
  12. PH shock due to lack of acclimatization? A specimen already in poor shape? Attacked by a mantis shrimp? There could be a few possibilities.
  13. Hmmm... the sea pen should be at the sandbed... and you need a DSB if you want to keep a sea pen. Hope you are feeding it enough phytoplankton eg. DT's or BioPlankton.
  14. Actually, its a combination of the two. The amount of zoox in a coral will determine the base colour (a lower count will give it a lighter colour, too much and its brown, too little and it's actually bleached), the polyps themselves may have a different colour and the growth tips (which exhibit a lot more of the anti-UV pigmentation) are usually brighter & more beautifully coloured. IME, if your corals are growing fast, they are usually better coloured.
  15. You mean below? Anyway... here's the gal herself...
  16. Go to the News and Annoucements Forum. We are getting too few entries to make it a fair contest. Actually, we do have our first TOTM, but the guy has yet to submit his story yet. Hee hee... AT
  17. Totally agree with Alvy on this. And I like the statement "Reasons are always there when design considerations are implemented..try to rationalise and ponder more before adopting a passive standpoint of accepting it.."
  18. I can loan you a large Toyogo tub but you have to self-collect. Its the same one I reviewed in Product Reviews.
