small hairy snail without shell found
Achilles Tang replied to nicken's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Are refering to abalones? Do they a ridge of small breathing holes running down their backs? -
Sale closed already. I think its really a good bargain.... you get free seafood with every sale... and its not a joke!!! I got to bring back a 'Soh Mei' fish and a BIG styrofoam full of freshwater lobsters from Canada! WOW!!!! Anyway, I think even if CNY over and they do want to clear the remaining pieces, they would have been browner by then! AT

Nope... doesnt look like the normal brown sea hares that Marinelife brings in... they don't have that many tendrils sprouting out their back! But looking at it... it probably is an algae eater... it would be very hard for a predator to see it in a clump of seaweed or algae! I dun think you should worry too much about it.

Lelong Price due to CNY closure is around $30 for the stronger coloured ones to $25 for the-not-so-coloured-ones. If you like you can bring your own LED torchlight... their holding tank is not meant for SPS so the MH lights there is weak and no skimmer. Like I said.. they are in the business of export.

Notice!! One-off SPS lelong sale!! Over 130 pieces of CITIES Bali Aquacultured SPS corals for sale!! Exporter (who does not do retail) has a batch stuck here due to CNY... 2 hour viewing window only! CNY Eve - 1.30pm to 3.30pm I saw pink milli, green gemmi, pink bird nest, yellow and pink stylo, pink pocci verucossa, dammi, various green, purple and blue acros! Due to this shipment being stuck here for a few days, some of the corals have browned up but colours are still visible. Should be able to colour back up in a week or two! Managed to grab a few nice still pinkish pocci pieces. Location: 314 Tanjong Katong Rd (opposite TK girls school), they have taken over an old LFS as their distribution packing facility. I think the old sign is still up called Marine and Discus. Hurry hurry!! Dun say I never say!! Suggest you bring your old carry bags... they have packing bags but no plastic carry bags as they don't do retail.

You guys are way beyond my league.... I'm too cheap to spend $XXXX on such branded skimmers!
-
Alan, Certainly hope your tongue is in your cheek. Why are you suddenly talking about my tank? My RC TOTM... then was then. My tank is certainly not the best in Singapore just because I got highlighted as TOTM in RC. Take a look at the many gorgeous tanks around here in SRC... there will be a few more RC TOTMs coming out from Singapore, I'm sure of that. I've not claimed my skimmer to be able to skim the salt out of saltwater yet. Perhaps when I link up my skimmer with the Tuas Desalination Plant. I'm not going to fall for this. If the tone in this thread continues, I'll close the thread.

JB? Probably to buy loads of pirated CDs? Go for the Ramli burgers? Go for cheap grocery shopping? What else is there to do in JB? Anyway... congrats on this great accomplishment!

Alfaromeo... depends on when the Reef Maniac is free...

You guys in this thread are not newcomers... you guys have easily a few thousand posts already between yourselves. You know the SRC policy about good manners when intereacting with one another. I suggest that the sarcasm stop because it only inflames people. Guys, stop insinuating and pointing fingers as I have eyes to see also. Last warning.

*Ding Ding Ding* - TIME OUT! Gentlemen, break apart and cool off. Keep the atmosphere here free of strong emotions and personal insults.... debate is fine as long as it catches defish. Just keep it intellectual.

Guys guys... you're all falling for the 'my skimmer is bigger than your skimmer' argument again.... you guys suck vs my beckett skimmer!! joking!! This is Riot's thread on choosing his skimmer.... not for us to debate skimmers...! Seriously, BK, beckett, H&S, ER... all are foaming monsters... flow thru or recirculating... both require different designs... to quote Frank Marini of RC... Once I mod my twin beckett skimmer for recirculating mode... I'm sure it'll beat every $XXXX german brand skimmers out there! And once my mod is complete... I can switch between both modes easily by turning a few valves... one week super high turnover (typical beckett), next week slower but finer skimming (typical needlewheel style). Muhahahahaha!!!

Who has a red carpet of cyano??

Alternatively, you can get a huge powerhouse skimmer like mine... for about the same price... minus the branding!
-
Good choice of skimmers!
-
Go to Petmart.... their prices are one of the best around!

Achilles Tang replied to gods_angel77's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Did you have a negative experience with Zeovit? Why are you selling away? -
Good question.

Welcome to SRC! You're more than welcome to drop by my place... Which part of Oz are you from? I have family there!

Feed the jaguar!! Haven't heard that term in a long time!

Ouch. Reef murderers.

Unless you buy a crappy AND expensive skimmer. At a state of equilibrium... where the amount of nutrients being added in is equal to the rate of nutrients being exported... using the skimmer alone (discounting water changes) and you still see nuisance algae proliferating... what does that tell you? But of course, you have the option to use other means of water quality control to supplement your skimmer... frequent water changes, use of phosphate absorbers, use of carbon etc. My personal rule of thumb is probably to get one size up than is usually rated by the manufacturer or get the biggest one you can afford. Some are notoriously overstating their capabilities. By doing so... you more or less avoid the upgrading bug...
