Background : The Apex temperature probe is placed in the same compartment as the compressor coil (as a double check for the compressor temperature controller). This is in the return pump section of the sump where the water level may fluctuate a little. And when the return pumps are off, the water level in the sump rises quite a lot. Issue statement : The issue is its hard to find a sweet spot location (vertically). When the pumps are off, water level rises above the probe which risks having water seep in. Over time, the seal will be compromised and may short out the temp probe. One mini project was to float the temperature probe instead. Able to float in a secure location at various water height levels. Maybe this just complicates things. May drop the idea. Testing in progress. Some pics : Float device printed in ABS. Yep, it has a graph where the spectrum is shown. I am not sure how accurate it is, but for sure it gives a very good indication of what your lights are doing. I remember BRS saying it was very close in accuracy to their high end testing equipment. So that is good enough for me. In addition it measures both PAR and PUR as well as Kelvin and Lux. You can also use it to keep an eye on your ph, ammonia, temperature and water level. Generally a great little tool. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app1 point

Since installing the Ecotech Versa peristaltic pump last month, it was possible to better control the dosing rate & time to dose. And hence gave me the motivation to improve the kalk stirrer. Decided to re-do the stirrer box with better water proofing & cable management. The drawing here shows the feature to hold the speed controller PCB in place. Using a good quality PC fan (uses ball bearings). A PWM speed controller. And a couple of magnets. The top & bottom halves were printed with ABS material. Total time about 32 hours (top & bottom) halves. View of the kalk set up. Programmed to dose 2L from 12am to 12pm. And 200cc from 12pm to 12am. In this way, the bulk of the kalk is added during night time where pH is lowest.1 point

Cheap DIY frag rack: Material u need: 1) $2 test tube holder. (Ali Express) 2) $10 Aquarium cleaning magnet, rem to get correct size and strength meant for ur glass thickness. (Shopee) 3) $2 coral glue gel tube. (Any lfs or general store) Its so simple, just assemble the test tube rack and glue them to the magnet. Inexpensive frag rack that only cost less than $15 and can house frag plugs of 14-16 plugs depending on how U place them. Thanks everyone taking time out to read my thread. Just sharing a very easy and cheap DIY Acclimate / Top Up Water container. When you finished your redsea carbon / any container, don't throw it. You can recycle it to become the DIY Acclimate / Top Up Water container. Just use something sharp (like below) to make a small hole at the bottom and slowly increase the size of the hole until the Plastic Water Tube Control Valve can fit the hole. This is the DIY Acclimate / Top Up Water container. I am using it to top up RO water to my QT tank. When getting new coral or fish, first I will put the coral / fish in a small container (container pack food from hawker), then fill the DIY Acclimate / Top Up Water container with my tank water, and drip the water into the small container by adjusting the valve control. For coral, once the water dripped to the container, I will separate 50% to another container, then add coral-rx coral dip to the 1st container to dip the new coral, and use the water in the 2nd container to wash the coral after dipped with coral-rx. The Plastic Water Tube Control Valve can easily get at any LFS or (Clementi C328), it is only SGD 1 to 2.1 point
