Skimmer is very efficient in catching the dirt floating in the water. Without skimmer the dirt will slowly build up in the sump tank. With small bio load as yours, it will look very long to build up.
running without skimmer for 7 months. livestock - 9 blue green chromis, 1 maroon clown, 1 coris wrasse, 1 lunar wrasse, 1 snowflake eel, 2 sea cucumber, 2 blue leg hermit, gsp, finger leather, zoas, and palys. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
The negative comments about having a ground probe is mostly about a system that is grounded but not having RCD breaker. This is quite dangerous.
All households in SGP have RCD circuit breakers. (in US forums, its is referred to as GFCI breakers).
Some kiasu reefers like me have additional RCD circuit breakers installed at the tank cabinet.
Having a ground probe is to protect yourself. When there is a surge, the RCD will trip.
It's been about a couple of months and here's a quick update. I added a Smart ATO and a fan to keep temperatures between 26-27 degrees. Did some rescape on the left in hopes of creating a Zoa garden. Corals so far: • A few different Zoas. (Rasta's, fire and ice, la lakers etc, not sure about the other IDs.) • mushrooms • pulsing Xenia • frogspawn • octopus coral (not sure what's the correct name) CUC: • 1 x hermit crab • 1 x Nassarius • 1 x turbo 3 x sexy shrimps Here are some shots taken today, sorry for the lousy pictures. Feel free to comment on how I can improve stuffs. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tinker butterfly is a fish u can get here in singapore, if u order for it.
There is no need to go HK to buy.
LCK and M3 will be able to bring in the fish for u. Price range from 300 to 500 depending on the size, smaller more expensive.
My 3 ft FOWLR that I've been keeping for 3yrs. Trying to learn to keep corals but it just seems so hard to learn and apply all the theory to real life. Not to mention it's going to burn a huge hole in my pocket.
