Hi guys

Heading to Hong Kong next month.

Can anyone advise where is the place with the stretch of aquariums shops and what are the must buy things over there?

Thanks heaps.

If anyone wants anything there can let me know too.

I can help to handcarry it back (no promises tho - dependent if I manage to get to that street / if I manage to squeeze in time to do that).

Corals is not allow to be brought out of Hong Kong by individual as far as I am aware. Fish still can but need to be check-in and not hand carry due to the rule of 100ml fluid then can bring onbaord.

Have a good trip.

Can Singapore custom allow us to bring in the fishes?

If buy equipments from overseas, what happen to the warranty? Are there International warranty for equipments like Vortech, etc??? I know laptop have but also quite troublesome if faulty....

I doubt there is any international warranty for most product. It is a risk we got to take for the heavily discounted price.

Pardon me if i'm wrong. So far, my 3 year old OR6500 which I got for nearly 50% of the price still going strong for me. TOuch wood. :peace:

You also can get Prodibio and Iwaki (back then during beckett skimmer era, this was a hit!) products there at relatively cheap price.

Anyway bro,

I have a Hong Kong friend who keeps a reef tank at home. You may want to go see his tank too. He's keeping zoas and spses. Are you keen?

I also think you can also get really good eagle eyes there. Place wise, I don't know, gotta reconsult my HK friend since some of the shops there have either relocated or closed down.

But nonetheless with him, I am sure you will have a good time in HK shopping for fish stuff :D

Anyway, HK wise, it's possible to take corals out. To think my HK friend shipped me some eagle eye frags before. haha :D

Happy Reefing,

Marc J.

Sure you can bring the stuffs out of HKG, But you also need to know what can be brought in to SGP.

Here's the AVA link to clear questions on what can and cannot bring in. http://www.ava.gov.sg/InformationForTravel...lFish/index.htm

Here's the CITES Appnedices - http://www.ava.gov.sg/InformationForTravel...lFish/index.htm

Hi Marco

My wife will definitely scream at me if I take time to go and view your friend's tank after travelling all the way to HKG.

Thanks for the offer though.

Head to what the local call "goldfish street". Take the MTR and alight on "prince edward" station (one stop after mongkok). The "goldfish street" is listed on the map and is at exit B2.

Cheers

Cool. I am staying at Mongkok for 1 night. hopefully manage to squeeze out some time.

I remembered going there like 10 or 15 yrs ago.

So many shops in a row. awesome.

How you wish Singapore LFS are like that. Centralised in city area :)

Coral prices are not too different from SG. Some fishes are cheaper. I saw Helfrichi's are selling for SGD70.

Yes Helfrichi Firefish (Nemateleotris helfrichi) - HKD380.

Big angels seem less expensive too but I'm not into them so didn't pay attention.

I saw a shop specializing on nano LS. The one LS that caught my eye the most is the Flaming Prawn Goby (Discordipinna griessingeri). It's also the first time I saw Panda Clown Goby (Paragobius lacunicolus). Sadly, I didn't buy because I can't bear it dying during transport.

Helfrichi for SGD $70?? That's a real steal! :ooh:

Where exactly is the shop that specializes in nano LS? Would love to visit if I ever go to HK.
