How do u feed your tang? Throw in one bunch and they'll eat? Or you tie to a LR?

You use cotton or nylon thread to tie the seaweed to the LRs? Can use rubber band instead?

sorry for late reply. Just got back from S.Africa

Yes i'm using rubber band :P

Huh? Really? Wouldn't the rubber band give off toxic stuff and harm your fish and corals? I'm just wondering...

  • 2 weeks later...

My brown and sailfin tangs LOVE the seaweed (those found in yong tau foo and steamboat)! First, I dip the seaweed in the water, squeeze them for a while until they are soft, then I tear them into 1cm long pieces, and throw them into the tank. The pieces of seaweed is then pushed around by the current and that will get the attention of my tangs. They will "fly" over and slurp the seaweed in very quickly! :eyebrow:

And what's more amazing is that my golden maroon clown and my fire goby eat the seaweed too! But they are not as enthusiastic as the tangs when it comes to the seaweed.

how about using a blender to cut the seaweed into small pcs...remember to turn on the blender for only a short while...too long and you end up having powder weed :D

No lah, when you slowly, tenderly tear the seaweed into small pieces in front of your tangs, they will be able to see your love and effort. ;)
