woo.. held together using cable ties? strong?

cable tie? nope, use two 'suckers' or 'stopper' and clip my "U" tube onto it, to stable it lor. As for the outer box, uses plastic "S" shape hook and the pipe below the box is siliconed to support the box too! :D

outer box.. which draw water down to my sump..

Hi aStRoBo|,

The inner box seems quite shallow and the two siphon pipes are quite short compared to the outer box and pipes. Have you tested the siphon should there be power failure? This problem may cause disaster when the power resumes after a power failure.

Just sharing...

yup. no prob with tat. when power off, the return pump starts to stop flowing water into the innerbox, without water getting into inner box, siphon stop. Den follow by my return pipe of my return pump will suck the water down to the sump until it break the siphon where i drill a hole onto it.

Will the siphon auto start again when power resumes? :o

nope. but the volume of water in my sump tank is enough to be filled into my main tank.  ;)

I think this is not right. The siphon *should* continue normally after a power loss. U might have a tank which can accomodate all your sump water but this is not what we ultimately want am I right? You might want to take a closer look to your o'flow design.

Your outer and inner box should be roughly at the same level. In a power failure, both the U tube ends in the boxes *must be submerged* in the remaining water to maintain siphon. Please note the critical depth between the standpipe opening and U tube opening in the diagram - this is the key to maintain the siphon. :peace:
