Comments on my sump design

Hi guys,

just finished a simple picture on my sump design.

The water first gets purified by the filter wool, chemipure and rowaphos in the first chamber.

The baffle at the second chamber is half high and half short. This allows the water to flow into the MACROALGAE compartment and not the DSB.

Next, the water overflows into the DSB compartment and the second baffle is the complement of the first.

The water then flows into the skimmer and return pump compartment.

Zero Oxygen mentioned to me that the skimmer should come first before the refugium and as stated in http://www.melevsreef.com/allmysumps.html

Can anyone verify their claim that the pods will be skimmed out?

may i know what is the slide at the botton for the 1st compartment for? sorry im also designing a sump currently.. hehe

It is to channel the water into the second compartment. I find it more effective than just letting the water push itself up

so any experience on whether placing the skimmer at the very last compartment would affect the number of pods entering the tank?

i see that many reefers put their skimmers at the last compartment unless they are using it externally.

did a slight change to the design.

i wonder whether the chemical filtration chamber will reduce the risk of a DSB crash.

since my DSB is after the chemical filters and macroalgae, there should be little heavy metal poisoning but i will change the DSB every 2 years or so just to be sure.

Any other comments for it?

Noticed that u have some very pretty corals in ur tank. Mind sharing how their 'diet' is like? What supplements/dosages etc do u use to make them thrive? TIA!
